Charles Biilich bringing morning coffee for Christa and staff

Welcome to The All About Billich Blog

The world sees the glamour — the exhibitions, the awards, the press photos — but not the heartbeat behind it all. The humour, the generosity, the sheer love of art that fills every corner of the Billich Gallery.Working with Charles and Christa Billich for over ten years has been something between a masterclass in genius and a front-row seat to the most entertaining chaos you could imagine

After a decade of working with them, I realised that the stories, the laughter, the brilliance, and sometimes the madness deserved a space of their own.

Charles isn’t just an artist — he’s a character. Sharp, curious, and with a sense of humour that sneaks up on you mid-sentence.Christa, elegant business woman who has managed the Billich gallery successfully for 40 years, and the only one who can actually keep Charles on schedule.Let me tell you — life inside Team Billich is never boring.Team Billich isn’t just a team — it’s family. Some of us have been part of the gallery for 30, 24, 18, and 10 years, that says it all. We must obviously enjoy the chaos, the laughter, and the daily “you couldn’t make this up if you tried.”

Over the years, we’ve had moments that felt straight out of Candid Camera. Charles turning a gallery disaster into a spontaneous comedy act. Somehow, it all works out. Maybe that’s the Billich magic: everything’s unpredictable, yet it always works out beautifully.

You’ll get to know the team — the people who’ve turned this gallery into a second home. You’ll meet Christa, whose calm balances Charles. And of course, you’ll see the art.

You’ll find a library of Charles’ works, with insights, stories, and the odd accident that happened along the way. You’ll find his quotes and writings, stories from his travels, and glimpses of the many lives his art has touched.

Also The Collector’s Corner You will find out why collectors buy his art. It’s not just about owning a painting — it’s about owning a story. Billich art has this strange power that draws people in, makes them laugh, makes them think, and sometimes makes them question everything.

That’s how this blog was born.
